MILWAUKEE (AP) — Zack Greinke says he likes the attitude of the Milwaukee Brewers, who made another big trade with hopes of reaching the postseason again by acquiring the former AL Cy Young Award winner.
Greinke spoke briefly in Milwaukee on Monday, a day after he was dealt from Kansas City in a six-player trade.
Greinke waived his no-trade clause and said he wanted to get out of Kansas City and join a team that wants to win now. With Prince Fielder expected to stay with the Brewers through this season before becoming eligible for free agency, Grienke believes Milwaukee has that chance.
General manager Doug Melvin compared the trade to the acquisition of CC Sabathia in 2008, except that Grienke has two remaining years under contract instead of a few months.
