Valparaiso holds off Eastern Michigan 74-67

ROCHESTER, Mich. (AP) — Brandon Wood scored 21 points to lead Valparaiso past Eastern Michigan 74-67 in the Lou Henson Award Holiday Tournament on Monday night.

Howard Little and Ryan Broekhoff each added 13 points and Cory Johnson had 12 for the Crusaders (8-4), who advanced to Tuesday’s championship game.

Brandon Bowdry finished with 24 points and 10 rebounds for the Eagles (1-9), who have lost eight straight.

Kevin Van Wijk accounted for four straight points to give Valparaiso its largest lead, 49-32, with 12:03 remaining. The Crusaders led the entire game and went into halftime up 29-20.

Valparaiso scored 44 points in the paint and converted 21 turnovers by Eastern Michigan into 26 points.
