NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — Calvin Newell came off the bench to score a career-high 17 points in only 17 minutes as Oklahoma remained unbeaten at home with a 66-53 victory against Sacramento State on Tuesday night.
Cade Davis scored 15 points and added a team-high three assists for the Sooners (6-6).
Sultan Toles-Bey scored a game-high 21 points for the Hornets (3-8) while Duro Bjegovic chipped in with nine.
Newell, who went 5 for 6 from 3-point range, hadn’t scored in the last four games despite starting against Gardner-Webb and Oral Roberts in early December.
Sooners’ leading scorer Andrew Fitzgerald fouled out with 3:43 left. He scored eight points and pulled down five rebounds. Fitzgerald was averaging 16 points in Oklahoma last five games.
