PITTSURGH (AP) — Right-hander Joe Martinez has been designated for assignment, creating room for the Pittsburgh Pirates to add right-hander Kevin Correia to their 40-man roster.
Martinez had no record and a 3.12 ERA in five games with Pittsburgh after going 0-1 with a 4.91 ERA in four games for San Francisco last season.
The Pirates also have invited non-roster pitchers Rudy Owens, Justin Wilson and Tyler Yates and first baseman Jeff Clement to major league spring training.
