Morrison lifts Oral Roberts past Rice 80-78

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Dominique Morrison scored 18 points, including the winning basket with 2 seconds left, to lift Oral Roberts past Rice 80-78 on Thursday in the final round of the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic.

Morrison saved the Golden Eagles (5-8), who nearly blew a 17-point second-half lead.

Damen Bell-Holter added 20 points with seven rebounds. Warren Niles had 16 points and Steve Roundtree 15 for the Golden Eagles, who shot 57 percent, including 10 of 16 from 3-point range.

Tamir Jackson led Rice (6-6) with 25 points, including all seven 3-point shots he tried. Arsalan Kazemi added 20 points and 11 rebounds. Connor Frizzelle had 15 points and Trey Stanton 12 for the Owls, who shot 53 percent.

Oral Roberts built its largest lead at 62-45 with 13:11 left. The Owls responded with a 15-3 run and later tied it four times.
