FOREST GROVE, Ore. (AP) — It’s Santa who’s getting a gift this year from his friends and neighbors in Forest Grove, Oregon.

Mickey Johnson has played Santa to neighborhood children for years, setting up a sleigh and Christmas decorations outside his home. But thieves on Wednesday ran off with a stocking filled with about $150 in donations for leukemia research.

KATU-TV reports that friends and neighbors soon showed up. By Thursday evening, about $2,600 had been donated. Among those giving was 7-year-old Gage Grimes, who donated all his savings, more than $200.
