Minaya leads Liberty’s 84-47 rout of Union (Ky.)

LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) — David Minaya scored 11 of his 14 points in the first half and Liberty coasted to an 84-47 victory over Union (Ky.) on Tuesday night.

Evan Gordon scored 12 points and Antwan Burrus 11 for the Flames (8-6), who shot 50 percent (33 of 66) for the game to 29 percent (18 of 62) for the Bulldogs (6-8), an NAIA opponent.

Liberty had a 48-20 advantage in points scored in the paint and had a 48-37 advantage on the boards.

Ian Davis scored 10 points for Union and was the only Bulldogs scorer in double figures.

Liberty led 46-19 after closing the first half with a 16-4 run that included six points by Minaya and five by Gordon.

The Flames’ lead reached 43 points in the second half when they made liberal use of their bench. Twelve players logged as many as 10 minutes for Liberty.
