NEW YORK (AP) — Mets shortstop Jose Reyes is back in the lineup being sidelined with lower back tightness and plans to play in next week’s All-Star game.

Reyes was batting leadoff against left-hander Matt Maloney and the Cincinnati Reds. The switch hitter says he will bat from the right side throughout the game to protect his balky back.

Reyes, who earned his third All-Star selection on Sunday, had been out since he was scratched from last Wednesday’s game against the Florida Marlins in Puerto Rico. He entered Tuesday night’s game with a .277 batting average, six homers and 32 RBIs.
