CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) — A Corvallis man charged with killing a woman has pleaded no contest to assaulting and harassing his ex-wife.

Prosecutors say 64-year-old David McCaffery repeatedly punched his ex-wife one day last summer. The woman went to live with 78-year-old Yvonne Perry, and Perry was found dead less than two weeks later.

The murder trial is scheduled to begin Nov. 29. A sentencing hearing for the charges McCaffery pleaded to Tuesday will not take place until after that trial.
