JOHANNESBURG (AP) — The president of European soccer’s governing body fainted in a restaurant and has been taken to a Johannesburg hospital.

Michel Platini’s special adviser tells The Associated Press on Friday that initial tests show Platini’s condition is not serious.

Adviser William Gaillard says from London that the 55-year-old Platini has had flulike symptoms and a mild fever for a few days because of the cold weather in South Africa.

Platini is a member of the FIFA’s executive committee and World Cup organizing committee. He is in Johannesburg for Sunday’s final.

The French soccer great has run UEFA since 2007. Platini led France to the World Cup semifinals in 1982 and 1986.
