ROSEBURG, Ore. (AP) — Police plan to charge a 16-year-old Roseburg boy as an adult in the alleged murder and rape of a 5-year-old girl who shared the home where he sometimes lived with his father.

Sgt. Aaron Dunbar said Friday that prosecutors will take evidence against the teen to a grand jury next week.

Police arrested him Friday on charges of aggravated murder and rape after the girl’s mother called 911 reporting her daughter was unconscious and not breathing.

Dunbar says the boy sometimes lived in the duplex that his father shared with the mother and her two young children. He says the boy also spent time with his mother in the Josephine County community Hugo.
