OCEANPORT, N.J. (AP) — Trappe Shot drew off in the stretch for a 212-length victory over Nacho Friend in the $175,000 Long Branch Stakes at Monmouth Park on Saturday.

The 3-year-old colt trained by Kiaran McLaughlin and ridden by Alan Garcia covered the 1 1/16 miles over a fast main track in 1:43 2/5 and returned $3 and $2.10. Nacho Friend paid $3.80 to place. There was no show betting because only four horses ran in the race.

The win was the fourth in five career starts for Trappe Shot, who has earnings of $187,050.

In the co-feature, Violon Sacre overtook Banrock in the deep stretch to win the $100,000 Battlefield Stakes by a neck.

The 5-year-old covered the mile over a firm turf course in 1:35 1/5 and returned $9.80, $4.20 and $2.80.
