OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — Democratic incumbent Sen. Patty Murray is the target of a new TV ad calling into question her “mom in tennis shoes” status.

The Washington, D.C.-based conservative group American Action Network says it began airing the ad statewide on Tuesday, at a cost of about $750,000.

The 30-second ad shows a woman wearing dirty sneakers walking on the backs of people representing small business, families, and children.

In response, Murray says she’s proud to have voted for expanded children’s health care and a higher minimum wage.

Murray faces several candidates in Washington’s top two primary on Aug. 17, including Dino Rossi, a two-time gubernatorial runner-up. Also in the primary is former Washington Redskins player Clint Didier.
