ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — The Texas Rangers are having arguably their best season ever, despite being in bankruptcy and on the auction block.
Texas begins play Thursday after the All-Star break 412 games ahead of the Los Angeles Angels in the AL West.
Even with the off-field drama and four straight losses before the break to Baltimore, the majors’ worst team, the Rangers (50-38) have the largest lead in any of baseball’s six divisions.
Manager Ron Washington says he senses confidence in his team.
