WENATCHEE, Wash. (AP) — Investigators looking for the killer of a 17-year-old Wenatchee High School student have released a clue they hope leads to more tips in the case.

The Mackenzie Cowell Homicide Task Force said Thursday the knife used to kill her came from a limited set sold at only one store in the Wenatchee area, Stan’s Merry Mart. Two knife sets also were given away at a 5-T’s Restaurant and Lounge in East Wenatchee as a pull tab prize.

The sportsman cutlery set is made by Maxum and has a unique black and gray handle.

The task force says it has no suspect in the slaying of the Cowell, who was last seen leaving a beauty school class in Wenatchee Feb. 9. Her body was found four days later along the Columbia River at Crescent Bar.
