CHICAGO (AP) — Cubs right-hander Carlos Zambrano has completed has anger management sessions and reported to Arizona on Thursday to resume throwing.
Zambrano, who has been on the restricted list since June 29, has not been with the club since his June 25 dugout tirade that led to a verbal confrontation with teammate Derrek Lee.
The Cubs do not have a timetable on Zambrano’s return to the majors.
The team suspended him without pay for three games then placed him on the restricted list and sent him to New York for anger management therapy.
After struggling in the rotation, the Cubs moved Zambrano to the bullpen, but not before moving him back to the rotation. He is 3-6 with a 5.66 ERA in 22 games this season.
