Didier’s plan is without understanding

“I have a game plan,” says U.S. Senate GOP candidate Clint Didier. “Unshackle our industries and get rid of regulation.” Has Didier considered the “shackles” that lack of regulation has imposed on industries and business in the Gulf states? Clearly not.

Russell will defend the Constitution

As retired police officers, we know public safety is important and that we need to elect people to defend the Constitution; that is why we support Jon Russell for 18th District state representative.

As a Washougal city councilman he has direct knowledge of the impact that state government has on our first responders. Russell has ridden with police departments in the district and knows what’s going on in our communities.

He will advance the Founding Fathers’ view of the Constitution by seeking to end unfunded mandates from state government on schools and local communities. Please vote for Jon Russell.

Rivers rises above other candidates

While there are many candidates running for state representative in the 18th District, Ann Rivers rises above all others. She is already writing legislation to introduce in Olympia when she is elected in November. While other candidates are consumed with trying to run a campaign, Rivers is working hard on legislation that will get our state back on track.

Rivers is the clear choice as we look to climb out of this hole we are in. Rivers has proven that she will fight for us in Olympia and will follow through with her promises. Join me in electing Ann Rivers.

Keep Lasher leading treasurer’s office

Retiring after 14 years as Clark County treasurer, my party appointed a young man, Doug Lasher, to fill my unexpired term. I moved from Washington and have just recently returned. I was amazed at the progress made by Lasher in the treasurer’s office and the innovative person he has become.

Lasher is a proven leader, so let’s keep him in office.

Akers is start in new direction

Many of us have been outraged by the Obama-Pelosi-Reid shenanigans in D.C. that have brought our great nation to the brink of collapse. Our blood boiled as we were ignored while their policy of bigger government, waste and increased spending was wielded upon us.

Who supported their dastardly deeds? Sen. Patty Murray. It’s time for Murray to don her tennies and hike back to the West Coast; it’s time for us to get on to solutions.

Senatorial candidate Paul Akers is a great start. A citizen of great caliber, he will breathe new life into D.C. with his common-sense approach and innovative solutions. He is an innovator, not a politician. Visit http://www.akersforussenate.com.

Golik’s record clean of errors

Residents of Clark County have an opportunity to vote for an experienced and dedicated attorney for prosecutor, Tony Golik. I worked with Golik for several years as a deputy prosecutor in the criminal division of the prosecutor’s office. As an appellate attorney now, my job is to review trial transcripts and look for errors that may have affected a defendant’s right to a fair trial. Golik’s trials are clean as a whistle. Golik zealously represents the people without compromising the fundamental requirement of due process for people accused of crime. He is well-respected by his colleagues on both sides of the aisle, law enforcement, and the judiciary. His integrity is second to none.

Heck has our vote

We need Denny Heck in Congress. He’s a person who will represent our needs. I’m an over-70-year-old, pragmatic, fiscal conservative. I’ve studied Heck’s website. I’ve asked friends who know him, from community, business and government. All praised him, but what sold me was Heck’s encounter with my hearing-impaired wife. Heck was speaking at a function we attended. My wife asked him questions from the audience. He responded but noticed she did not hear. Afterwards he went to her, they spoke for a long time. I knew then he cared about people. He has our vote.

Herrera has the right stuff

After seeing the excitement and sheer size of Jaime Herrera’s campaign, I am impressed with her candidacy for 3rd District U.S. representative. During her campaign kick-off speech, Herrera concentrated on the issues most pressing to our district, particularly those involving the economy and employment conditions. Other speakers were people who have worked alongside her, mentored and advised her. They are some of the greatest leaders in our state, so their affirmation of her integrity and legislative skill, as well as her focus and energy, speak to the capability she’ll bring to the 3rd District congressional seat.

Johanson has local connections

We urge our fellow Clark County residents to vote for Jill Johanson, candidate for the Court of Appeals, Division II. Johanson was raised in Vancouver and graduated from Columbia River High School in 1977. We’ve known Johanson and her wonderful family for a good many years. She has demonstrated outstanding ability as a Superior Court judge in Cowlitz County for the past eight years. She has the endorsement of virtually all her Superior Court judge colleagues in Clark, Cowlitz, Wahkiakum, Pacific, Skamania and Lewis counties.

Jenkins will represent the people

Vancouver City Council candidate John Jenkins is a fiscal conservative who is not a tax-and-spend politician. Jenkins cochaired the 2009 city charter review committee and made changes that benefited the people. He chaired the 2004 city council salary review commission that kept the salaries of part-time council members reasonable. He has the experience needed to cut our city’s deficits, prioritize spending and properly fund police and firefighter service. Jenkins agrees we have a right to vote on light rail and he steadfastly opposes bridge tolls. A vote for Jenkins means you will be represented and not dictated to.
