LA GRANDE, Ore. (AP) — After more than a decade as a downtown fixture, Blockbuster Video has decided to close its remaining store in La Grande.

Blockbuster closed its outlet at the La Grande Town Center in August 2008.

The chain closed the downtown store on Monday, citing competition from other providers of home entertainment, including Redbox and its standalone DVD vending machines.

Blockbuster stores have been struggling nationwide, with hundreds closing in the last several years.
