EASTBOURNE, England (AP) — Ekaterina Makarova has defeated Samantha Stosur 7-6 (5), 7-5 to advance to the final of the Eastbourne International grass-court event.
The Russian qualifier will face eighth-seed Marion Bartoli or unseeded Victoria Azarenka in the final.
Makarova made a poor start Friday against third-seeded Stosur, claiming just four of the first 19 points of their semifinal as she fell behind 3-0, 0-40.
