Family of 5 OK after SUV sinks at Sauvie Island

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Portland Fire and Rescue says a family of five made it safely out of their SUV when it sank at the north end of Sauvie Island, but their pet Chihuahua drowned.

The family was out for a drive Sunday evening when their car became stuck. The driver was rocking forward and back when the tires suddenly gained traction and sent the car into the water.
