SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — The Sacramento Kings are focusing on their frontcourt, drafting 7-foot center Hassan Whiteside with the No. 33 pick in the NBA draft.
Whiteside averaged 13.1 points, 8.9 rebounds and 5.4 blocked shots in 34 games in one season at Marshall and was an honorable mention All-American. His 182 blocks were the fourth-most for one season in Division I history.
Earlier Thursday, the Kings took another step toward bolstering their front court by selecting Kentucky forward DeMarcus Cousins with the No. 5 pick.
Cousins joins newly acquired Samuel Dalembert, who came to the Kings in a trade last week with Philadelphia, to provide a defensive boost inside.
