ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — The Houston Astros purchased the contract of right-hander Josh Banks from Triple-A Round Rock to start Saturday’s game against the Texas Rangers.

Banks makes his Astros debut after going 8-5 with a 2.97 ERA for Round Rock. He is 3-1 with a 1.50 ERA in his last four starts. Banks takes the rotation spot of right-hander Felipe Paulino, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Thursday because of right shoulder tendinitis.

Banks is making his 19th major league start, but first since last July 10 for San Diego.

The Astros signed Banks to a minor league contract and he went to spring training with the team.
