MARYSVILLE, Wash. (AP) — Sales of fireworks are up and running at the Tulalip Indian Reservation, bringing with them fun for some, but fear for others.

The Herald of Everett reports that sales have been picking up lately at Boom City, which is how the area where the vendors gather is called. Vendors started selling fireworks on June 18.

Brenda Zackuse, chairwoman of the tribal committee that runs Boom City, says sales usually pick up about a week before July 4.

Karen Jones, deputy state fire marshall, says that in 2009, 89 residential fires were blamed on fireworks.
