KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — An umpire who left a game between the Chicago White Sox and Kansas City Royals with symptoms of heat distress is out of the hospital.

First base umpire Alfonso Marquez was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital to be evaluated Monday night. He was experiencing shortness of breath when he left the game in the bottom of the fifth inning.

A hospital spokeswoman said Tuesday that Marquez had been treated and released.

The umpiring crew finished the 3-1 win by the Royals with a three-man crew as second base umpire Tim Timmons moved to first base to replace Marquez.
