CLEVELAND (AP) — The Twins activated third baseman Nick Punto from the 15-day disabled list and optioned Luke Hughes to Triple-A Rochester before Saturday night’s game at Cleveland.
Punto missed seven games with a strained right hip. He was placed on the disabled list April 23, retroactive to April 16.
He was batting ninth, and hitting .269 with one RBI in nine games.
Hughes homered in his first major league at-bat Wednesday night in Detroit. The infielder appeared in two games and hit .286.
