EL PASO, Texas (AP) — Arnett Moultrie won’t be returning to Texas-El Paso for his junior season.

Miners coach Tim Floyd says he and Moultrie “have arrived at a mutual understanding where it would be best for him to continue his career elsewhere.” In a statement issued Thursday, Floyd says he wishes him well and thanked him “for his contributions over the last two seasons.”

The statement quotes Moultrie as saying he enjoyed his playing career at UTEP and progressing toward his degree.

The 6-foot-11, 225-pound power forward from Memphis, Tenn., appeared in 70 games the past two seasons, averaging 9.3 points and 7.5 rebounds.

The El Paso Times reports Moultrie had decided to enter the NBA draft but hadn’t hired an agent, leaving himself eligible to return.
