BREMERTON, Wash. (AP) — Bremerton Police say McDonald’s employees thwarted a robbery attempt by tackling a man who demanded money and threatened to shoot employees.

Bremerton Detective Sgt. Kevin Crane says a masked man came into the restaurant shortly after midnight Friday. He was holding something under his clothes that made it appear he had a weapon.

After his threats, a 20-year-old employee confronted him and the suspect punched him in the face. Crane says two other employees, both 22, joined the struggle while another called 911.

Crane says police were pleased the suspect was apprehended quickly, but cautioned against people taking such matters into their own hands.
