OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — The state Department of Ecology says it’s satisfied with the way oil spill responders performed during unannounced drills in Puget Sound.

The agency ran drills at six locations Monday to test how backup oil spill responders would perform, since many of the state’s responders were sent to assist in the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

The agency says the exercise went well.

Another 50 drills are scheduled this year.
