No. 23 TCU rolls to 96-38 win over Houston Baptist

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — Emily Carter scored 26 points, eight in a decisive early run for No. 23 TCU, and the Lady Frogs went on to a 96-38 victory over Houston Baptist in their season opener Friday night.

Houston Baptist had a 4-0 lead while the Lady Frogs missed their first six shots before scoring 22 points in a row.

Starr Crawford had 15 points and 11 rebounds for TCU, while Helena Sverrisdottir and Delisa Gross had 13 points each. Rachael Rentschler scored 11.

Helena Sverrisdottir made a layup and a free throw 3 minutes into the game for TCU’s first points. Houston Baptist then had a turnover, and Carter hit consecutive 3-pointers to put the Lady Frogs ahead to stay.

Carter had 17 points by halftime, when TCU led 49-12.

Destini Texada had nine points to lead Houston Baptist, which shot only 28 percent (14 of 51) and had 28 turnovers.
