Olympic wrestling champion Imre Polyak dies

BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) — Former Olympic Greco-Roman wrestling champion Imre Polyak has died at 78.

Hungary’s Olympic committee says he died Monday after a long illness.

Polyak won Olympic silver medals in 1952, 1956 and 1960 in the 137-pound class. His gold medal at the next Olympics was at 139 pounds.

He was world champion in 1955, 1958 and 1962 and won 12 individual and two team Hungarian championships.
