ASHLAND, Ore. (AP) — A new study identifies three types of bicyclists in Ashland, similar to Portland and other cities around the country.

The Daily Tidings reports the smallest group is only a about half a percentage point of the Ashland population but is classified as “strong and fearless,” and will bike regardless of road conditions.

Another group making up about 7 percent are called “enthused and confident” bikers who are comfortable with the current bike network.

The largest group of cyclists is about 60 percent of the population, and they are “interested but concerned” about the safety of the existing bike network.

The study was done last month by Kittelson & Associates Inc., a Portland engineering firm.
