SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (AP) — McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center in Springfield says it’s remaining open through Wednesday’s one-day strike by the union representing 340 service workers.

Hospital spokeswoman Debi Farr told The Register-Guard temporary employees are available to maintain all services.

An official with Service Employees International Union Local 49, Felisa Hagins, said the two sides met Tuesday with a federal mediator and were unable to settle on a new contract. The last contract expired in June.

Workers represented by the union include food service workers, housekeepers, and ultrasound and surgical technologists.
