ISSAQUAH, Wash. (AP) — A Washington state Fish and Wildlife official says agents have identified a person they believe shot a young black bear in suburban Issaquah, partially paralyzing the animal. The bear was later euthanized.
Agency Capt. Bill Hebner didn’t identify the person, who has not been arrested. Wildlife agents will forward their information to the King County prosecutor’s office for consideration of any charges.
The bear was found Oct. 11 in the backyard of a home in Issaquah, about 15 miles east of Seattle. An X-ray of the tranquilized bear showed a bullet near its spine. The injury left the animal partially paralyzed, with significant nerve damage and injuries so painful that it had to be euthanized.
