Charleston Southern defeats Montreat 103-85

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Jamarco Warren scored 22 of his 29 points in the first half and Sheldon Strickland had his first career double-double to lead Charleston Southern to a 103-85 win over Montreat on Thursday night.

The Buccaneers topped the 100-point mark for the first time since scoring 103 in a win against Toccoa Falls on Nov. 30, 2009.

Warren was 10 of 16 from the field while Strickland, who had 16 points, was 5-for-8 from the field. He also dished out 10 assists.

The Buccaneers (2-1) shot 67.6 percent in the first half (23 of 34) to lead 61-38 at halftime.

Jeremy Sexton added 10 points and seven assists for Charleston Southern.

Matt Rushing had 16 points to lead Montreat, an NAIA school which finished with four players in double figures. Steve McBorrough and Seth Moore had 11 apiece, while Scott McNeil had 10.

The Cavaliers were 30 for 60 from the field.
