GUADALAJARA, Mexico (AP) — Mexican authorities say the former governor of the Pacific state of Colima has been shot to death by a group of armed men.

The Colima Attorney General’s Office says Silverio Cavazos Ceballos was gunned down Sunday outside his home in the capital city, also called Colima.

The state attorney general says the suspects fled in a truck after firing on Cavazos, who left office exactly a year ago.

Another person was injured in the attack, but authorities said the identity of that person was not clear.

They have not given a motive for the killing.

Cavazos took office in 2005 after the previous governor died in plane crash.
