OXFORD, Miss. (AP) — Jeremiah Masoli was supposed to be Mississippi’s football savior.

But it hasn’t worked out that way for the quarterback, who transferred from Oregon to Ole Miss in the summer, but has brought only one conference win to the Rebels so far.

He has one more chance to leave a good impression on Saturday during The Egg Bowl.

Mississippi will host No. 25 Mississippi State at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford. The home team has won 10 of the past 11 games in the series.

The Bulldogs have enjoyed a renaissance season under second-year coach Dan Mullen, and are bowl eligible for just the second time this decade. But MSU has dropped two straight, including last week’s double-overtime loss to Arkansas.
