HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) — Charles Jenkins scored 17 of his 19 points in the second half as Hofstra rallied from a 10-point deficit to defeat Wagner 67-63 on Friday night.
David Imes added 14 points and a career-high 17 rebounds for the Pride.
Wagner freshman Latif Rivers scored a career-high 28, hitting 6 of 10 3-pointers and 10 of 10 foul shots.
Trailing 40-30 with 17:54 to go, Hofstra (2-3) used a 20-7 run over the next 10 minutes — including 11 points from Jenkins — to lead 50-47.
The Seahawks (2-2) tied it at 52 with 6:11 to go, but could never regain the lead while shooting 26.9 percent in the second half (7 of 26).
Wagner closed to 62-61 with 1:38 left on two free throws by Tyler Murray, then David Imes answered with a layup for the Pride.
After Murray’s jumper with 18 seconds left made it 64-63, Jenkins made two free throws and Stephen Nwaukoni hit one to seal the win.
