Saint Louis beats IUPUI 58-55

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Paul Eckerle had 12 points and two assists to lead Saint Louis past IUPUI 58-55 Saturday.

The Billikens (3-2) started to pull away in the first half with a 24-point lead, at 35-21 with 3:19 until halftime. IUPUI (2-4) closed the gap in the second half and tied the game at 53 with 1:27 left to play.

A layup from IUPUI’s Alex Young brought the Jaguars within one point, 56-55, with 15 seconds to go, but four Mike McCall free throws in the final 30 seconds gave Saint Louis the win.

McCall finished with nine points, three assists and was 7 of 7 from the free-throw line.

Kyle Cassity scored eight points for Saint Louis, and Dwayne Evans added eight points and pulled down six rebounds.

Young had 17 points and six rebounds for the Jaguars. Stephen Thomas added 13 points and eight rebounds, and Christian Siakam had 10 points and seven rebounds.
