WASHINGTON (AP) — A person familiar with the decision says Ben Olsen has been hired to remain coach of D.C. United.
Olsen keeps the job after serving the last 212 months of the season as interim head coach, the person told The Associated Press. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the team has scheduled a news conference for Monday to make the formal announcement.
United fired Curt Onalfo on Aug. 4 as the team slumped through its worst season in franchise history.
Olsen, an assistant coach and former U.S. national team player, was promoted and went 3-8-1. United finished with a 6-20-4 record, the worst in MLS.
