NEW YORK (AP) — Marian Gaborik is back in the New York Rangers’ lineup despite still feeling the effects of the flu.
Gaborik skated in the morning and during warmups before the Rangers faced the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday night. His status wasn’t determined until game time approached.
Gaborik, who led the Rangers last season with 42 goals and 86 points, sat out because of the illness on Saturday night when New York won at Nashville.
The right wing has four goals and 10 points in 12 games this season. He sat out 12 times because of a separated left shoulder sustained Oct. 15 in the home opener.
New York, which played with 11 forwards and seven defensemen at Nashville, scratched defenseman Matt Gilroy from the lineup to make room for Gaborik. Rangers enforcer Derek Boogaard missed his third straight game because of a shoulder injury.
