A resident in the Pleasant Valley area called 911 early Tuesday morning to a report a car had crashed into the driveway of a home in the 6200 block of Northeast 159th Street.
An engine crew from the Vancouver Fire Department’s Glenwood station was dispatched shortly before 4 a.m. to the home to find a man partially ejected from the passenger door of a BMW.
The car was apparently traveling eastbound on Northeast 159th Street when it veered off the road, into a ditch and struck a railroad tie. The Clark County Sheriff’s Office identified the man as Aaron Boutwell, 18, of Battle Ground.
Firefighters freed Boutwell from the damaged vehicle, according to Jim Flaherty, a fire spokesman. A captain and a paramedic from the fire department rode with American Medical Response as they transported Boutwell to Southwest Washington Medical Center. He was in critical condition Tuesday night.
The sheriff’s office is investigating.
