SALEM, Ore. (AP) — The paramedic who helped save the life of an injured police chief after a bomb blast has testified that she had to fight to keep him alive.
Stephanie McClung says Friday that Woodburn Police Chief Scott Russell was bleeding so heavily that she had to wait for an air bubble to pop out of his airway so she could see where to insert a device critical to keeping him breathing.
McClung testified in the third day of the murder trial of Bruce Turnidge and his son, Joshua, who are charged with aggravated murder for setting the Dec. 12, 2008 bomb in a Woodburn bank that killed two police officers and maimed Russell.
The pair face a potential death penalty if convicted.
