PRINEVILLE, Ore. (AP) — A settlement with the owners of a boarding school the state closed last year in central Oregon may lead to a new school on the same campus.
KTVZ-TV reported the state Department of Human Services reached the settlement last week with owners of the former Mount Bachelor Academy, a therapeutic boarding school for teens.
Early last November, the state gave Aspen Education Group 72 hours to remove students from the private boarding school it operated east of Prineville.
State officials said a seven-month investigation into its programs found several incidents of “abuse and neglect,” and “serious violations of Oregon’s licensing standards.”
