SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Twenty workers from the Oregon Parks and Recreation office in Salem took a field trip last Tuesday to the Columbia River Gorge.
The Statesman Journal reports they took two state motor pool vans to state parks and scenic areas.
Assistant Director Lisa Van Laanen says it was sightseeing. She says it was a valuable training exercise and an opportunity for headquarters staff — such as accounting, payroll and contracts employees — to meet face to face with staff in the field.
Regular workloads were arranged to give the staff time for the field trip.
