JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. (AP) — The Army is holding a pre-trial hearing Tuesday at Joint Base Lewis-McChord for a soldier accused of assaulting a soldier who blew the whistle on drug use in Afghanistan.

The News Tribune of Tacoma reports 27-year-old Staff Sgt. David Bram of Vacaville, Calif., is accused of being one of six soldiers who beat Pfc. Justin Stoner on May 5 at Forward Operating Base Ramrod. Stoner reportedly had spoken to investigators about drug use.

The one-day hearing will determine whether Bram will face a court martial on assault and related charges. He is not one of the 5th Stryker brigade soldiers accused of murdering civilians in Afghanistan.
