White, not Clay, getting attention for Badgers

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin’s John Clay says he never wanted the attention of a Heisman Trophy pursuit or a streak of 100-yard performances. The streak is gone and the award talk has quieted down, too.

Clay hasn’t looked like that bruising running back who punished opponents down the stretch last season on his way to 1,517 yards, 18 touchdowns and the Big Ten offensive player of the year award.

It’s been freshman James White who has run for 243 yards in Wisconsin’s last two games to go along with six touchdowns.

Coach Bret Bielema expects White to get more carries when the 20th-ranked Badgers (4-1, 0-1) face Minnesota (1-4, 0-1) on Saturday.
