NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — Reserve defender Ronnell Lewis will have surgery on his injured right knee and will miss Oklahoma’s game against No. 18 Missouri on Saturday night.
Defensive coordinator Brent Venables said Tuesday night that it’s “a minor issue but we’re going to go ahead and take care of it.” Venables said Lewis will be out for a couple of weeks.
Lewis had been splitting time between outside linebacker and defensive end, getting 112 sacks this season for the third-ranked Sooners (6-0, 2-0 Big 12). A special teams ace, Lewis was hurt on kickoff coverage in the second quarter of Oklahoma’s 52-0 win against Iowa State and did not return.
