Portland Mayor Adams sometimes a no-show

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Some people at Portland’s City Hall say Mayor Sam Adams sometimes misses important meetings and speeches.

The Oregonian reports that it interviewed a number of officials who say the mayor’s absences may be limiting his ability to lead. The newspaper says it interviewed dozens of people, but nearly all didn’t want to be identified because they work with the mayor or for the city.

Adams acknowledges he has missed some engagements. But he says he’s not unreliable, just busy. He says he attends thousands of meetings and events, and makes the vast majority he’s scheduled for.
