SEATTLE (AP) — Seattle’s Woodland Park Zoo says two Chilean flamingo chicks hatched at the zoo this month have died, along with the mate of their mother.

The zoo says one chick was found dead Thursday morning in the exhibit, while the younger of the chicks went missing Sunday night. The adult bird died last Friday of a fractured vertebra and other internal health problems.

Zoo workers say they don’t know what caused the chicks to die. They say the exhibit is protected against predators and that the mother showed them proper attention.
