LUXEMBOURG (AP) — Ana Ivanovic’s recent run of good results ended Friday with a 6-3, 6-1 loss to Julia Goerges in the Luxembourg Open quarterfinals.
Former No. 1 Ivanovic beat Goerges last week at the Generali Ladies Linz on her way to ending a two-year title drought, but lost in an hour Friday to the eighth-seeded German.
Goerges will play fellow German Angelique Kerber, who beat Polana Hercog of Slovenia 6-4, 6-2 to earn a semifinal berth for the first time since her debut WTA final in Bogota, Colombia, in February.
Anne Keothavong of Britain overcame Iveta Benesova of the Czech Republic 6-7 (3), 6-2, 6-4. She will play Roberta Vinci of Italy, who beat Kirsten Flipkens of Belgium 7-6 (5), 6-1.
